Task Lighting
Downlighting provides effective task lighting in kitchens, particularly over peninsulas and sinks, and in showers. Note that lighting from overhead – downlighting – may cause shadows. Undercabinet task lighting often does a better job.Some people use the term general lighting to describe lighting that serves as both ambient and task lighting, such as an array of downlights in a large kitchen with a central island. This can be confusing since we want customers to understand the separate layers of light in a room.
